Thanks so much! Now, if you/we can just find Hugh's 3RD wife, which would be your family line? My family is from his 2ND marriage, but would be interesting to know the "rest of the story".

Surnames: Trimble Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wg.2ADE/3574.1.2.3.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes, there is conflicting info re Hugh's death date. I also have info from Adams Co. website & Quincy Herald that he died 05/13/1851, obit dated 06/02/1851 (I do not have a copy). In this instance, the surname is spelled Tremble. My father, who is now 92, and Hugh's gggrandson, was told Hugh died of Cholera in Adams County. I do have a record of Hugh's first marriage to Elenor Caldwell in Montgomery Co, KY in 1802, and the article you read about George mentions Nancy Northcutt/Nofcutt, Hugh's second wife. I also have an 1850 Adams Co. census record, stating Hugh's age, as of 09 Oct., to be 69. Still trying to verify his parents.

As usual I am confused.....you say the father of Ester/Hester Culp was Daniel Culp? I had Ester/Hester, Maria, and Isabella Culp as the daughter of Jacob Culp who is buried in St. Joseph County Indiana near me.....am I right? I only have the 1850 Adams Co Illinois census on this group, and I don't have a Clarinda Culp - unless in the house of Jacob Culp age 64 and his wife Mary (Dennis) age 55 is Isabella age 20 and Drucilla? age 14....could the Drucilla? age 14 be the Clarinda you are talking about? I did not know of the connection to Allen family, so did not look them up in the census....I was really looking at the Turney/Tourney men. I have George, Peter, and Franklin Turney/Twiney/Tourney.....plus the Joseph Turney age 22 born France who in 1850 census is living with his sister? Mary Vancil.....what the relationship is between these men I do not know, if they were brothers, cousins or what. But they all say on census they were born in France. I was trying to find if any of these families changed their name to Turney, which they do not seem to have done. My Turneys were originally from Switzerland and spoke German, arrived in Philadelphia 1740, 1741, and 1743....some stayed in PA and moved into Ohio and west, mine went to VA and spread thru the south, but with some who in 1850 census are in Illinois and later MO. Now I know these Tourneys were not part of the Turney family even tho in some records the name appears as Turney. Mary hlm@qtm.net

However, I now see a conflict for Hugh's date of death. The Sangamon history says he did of cholera in 1848. However, I find a Hugh Trimble, age 69 born in VA, on the 1850 U. S. Census for Adams Co, IL. It shows Jane as his spouse, age 55, born in Kentucky. Also, Elkanah Trimble, age 24, is living with them. I believe Elkanah is a brother to Thomas. Any thoughts? Ed
