If your death is before 1947, try getting a copy from the State Archives..They have them on film and you can make copies yourself. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mindy" <mdoellman@adams.net> To: <ILADAMS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 05, 2002 6:27 AM Subject: Re: [ILADAMS] Gillespie cemetery lookup > Adams County will NOT give you an uncertified copy. This is my grandfather. He married Alma May Ross b. 22 Feburary 1897 in Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri
Adams County will NOT give you an uncertified copy. I have already tried. They only give out certified copies and then charge you $9 for the death certificate. They should follow like other counties as you said and give you an uncertified, but they don't. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yates" <pyates@adams.net> To: <ILADAMS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 04, 2002 11:03 PM Subject: Re: [ILADAMS] Gillespie cemetery lookup > You can get an copy that is not certified for $1.00 or $2.00, at any County > Clerks Office. You can get an copy that is not certified for $1.00 or $2.00, at any County Clerks Office. I should in the county where the person died and in Illinois, I don't know about other state. If the person died between 1916 and 1948 you can get a free copy from the IL death index website (link below) with a 3-6 month wait. http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/genealogy/forms/idphd eathsrch.html
While the state on-line access is nice, they're not always correct and I've found them incomplete. Be sure to check out the IRAD, I think that's the initials, library, for example, Macomb, Il. Treva married Otis Jay Paul in Seattle, they had 2 children - Jack Paul and Oneita Paul. Jack Paul was my father. Any information on this family is appreciated. Christine
You can write the Adams County Vital Statistics office. You will need to send in (I believe) $9 for a certified copy of the death certificate. Once they receive your check, they are pretty fast about getting the copy out. I would say maybe one week to 10 days? George died 16 May, 1888, age 88 yrs.; Jane died 24 Dec., 1898, ca 80yrs. (that's how the book listed it). You may be able to find more info thru inter-library loan. My understanding is that the Quincy library has admission records for the Adams Co. Almhouse on microfillm. I don't do microfilm (it makes me sick to my stomach). You may be able to come up with more info there. By the way, the Alms House wasn't located in Quincy, it was in the county in Gilmer Township, located near Honey Creek Township. Good luck. Libby
I am interested in locating the location of the grave for William Edward GILLESPIE. He died June 15, 1900. I don't think that he would be buried in any of the Catholic cemeteries (which are the books that I have). Also interested in any other GILLESPIE or McCRELLIAS, or DILLON that might be buried in that cemetery as well. Also, I know that this has been discussed many times on the list (just haven't needed as of yet!), where is the best place to write to for a death certificate for this death in Quincy? How long is the wait, etc? Thanks so much Kerry McHugh Olympia WA

Hi, Before my computer crashed I had corresponded with a Dazy Descendant who sent me a word file of the Dazey family and someone did a look up for me in the Woodland Cemetery for Cora Dazey Clark who was married to John Bennett Clark. When my computer crashed I lost that information. Could whoever sent me the information, if they are on this list, please send it to me again? Thank you so much Shawnnee
