I know he passed in 1969, Detroit, Michigan. He was married to Lillian LaBrash but I am aware he was married prior to her and had children (whom I don't know). Could this be the same? He too was French Canadian but I never heard of the blackfoot Indian heritage. Hope it helps. Reita Finnegan
Have you found any information on Kenneth McCoy and his wife Hannah. I have information from the book "History of Brown Co., IL" that states that Hannah died, Aug. 21, 1872 in Clayton, Adams Co., IL. But I haven't yet found where they are buried. I am planning on looking at all the cemetery books available at the Clayton Public Library. If I come across their burial I will email you with the information. I am distantly related to Reuben McCoy through his wife, she was my fourth great grandfather's sister.

Illinois has an on line database of all Illinois Civil War veterans. There is no Thomas Coates or T. Coates or B. Coates listed in it. <http://cyberdriveillinois.com/cgi-bin/archives> should get you to it if you would like to search name variations or for other relatives. I'm not sure if other states have similar information on line or not.

I've been doing some census research and i've found quite a bit on this family. Peter and Maria Magdalena (i assume) were married before they emigrated. They emigrated around 1848. Maria Magd. had her first child, Elizabeth, on board the ship! According the the two censuses i've found (1860 and 1870 federal, Dubuque Co., IA, Jefferson Twp) Peter and Maria Magd. had the following children: Elizabeth, Joseph, Bernhard, (Anna) Mary, and "Fanny" (short for Franziska or some variant, i can't read the enumerator's writing on this one). Please e-mail me if you'd like to compare notes. I'd really like to know how you found Maria Magdalena's maiden name, and any info you might have on these people.

He deserted his wife, but rumor has it that he remarried, so any mention of a wife would be useful. Thanking you in advance.

Linda, My father, Wes Donley, went to the Mount Vernon school through 8th grade, and then I believe he attended Unity High School. He would have finished 8th grade in the spring of 1947, and graduated high school in the spring of 1951. Is there a chance that his picture would be among the pictures you referred to? That one if I remember right is located just due east of Hwy 57 in Fall Creek. What you will see on Hwy 57 is the old Town Hall and a small bridge . You take a road back east off of 57 and go up a small hill and there is the church on the left side of the road and the cemetery I believe is right next to it. I have been to it many times.
