    3. Is the info on this site suppose to be current? If so, it is not. I worked there, and entered many names that were patients of mine years ago, and no data was found on any of them. The picture of the Hospital reminds when the building was torn down. the building was noted on the Historical registry and was unusual in that it was round and was designed that sunlight would be available in the day room all day long. When the building was torn down, it came down was without knowledge or consent and caused some real serious discord in Springfield. The hospital had marble sinks and beautiful pillars around the porch which can be seen in the photo but cannot truly be appreciated from the photo. If traveling to Illinois Veterans home, (formerly known as Soldiers and Sailors Home) the former site of the hospital is now a graveled parking lot, a sorry ending for such a beautiful buidling. ----- Original Message ----- From: <marjer@adams.net> To: <ILADAMS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 18, 2003 5:17 PM Subject: [ILADAMS] Re: Solider and Sailor Home > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Wg.2ADE/3931.1.3.1 > > Message Board Post: > > You can get the Massac County names yourself. I looked in the cemetery records of Adams County (other then Quincy's cemeteries) and Brown County and found no Albert. Even in Brown County Family Relationship records, no Albert. I checked for an obituary for that date and found none. What I did find is an Albert W. Williams who died on June 17, 1921 in Peoria (Peoria County),IL in the Illinois Death Index, certificate no.0019064. You might look in the Peoria area, although there are a number of WILLIAMS families listed in the Brown County Relationship records. 3. Did I get this person's name right? I see where people are talking about "Vance" as a last name. Do you know what county in NC Paul died? Also, was his mother's maiden name Vance. I noticed he had JR. after his name so I am assuming his father was Paul Winters, Sr. I found several Vances in Avery County, NC. I used the National Search Engine. I went through some of the censuses and cemetery postings they had. I found a "Winters Cemetery, Avery Co. NC, White Rock Mt. area. They also had some early marriage listed, but found no names in any of the sections for Paul. I went to the Ohio USGENWEB. Unfortunately, a lot of their counties are affected by the server gennet, who is having difficulties atthis time. Wish I could be of more help. Have you tried a message board for North Carolina and Ohio at rootsweb? Maybe you will get something there. Shari
