He was born in Adams Co., in 1838. His parents are unknown to me and I would like to find them. In the 1880 Census, he said his parents were born in Scotland (Father) and Ireland (Mother). In the 1920 Census, he states they were born in Pennsylvania. In 1861 Wm. married Sarah Zinn in Hancock Co., Il. They had two sons, Wm. Andrew and Matthew Sheridan before moving to Mo. in 1864. There is a possibility that William had two brothers, John, b.1844 and Joseph. Joseph married Mary Jane Rose in 1859 in Hancock Co. William and Sarah also had two sons named John and Joseph, who were born in Missouri. There were a total of 15 or 16 children born to the couple. Two of the girls were named Mary Ann and Josephine. Sarah's mother was named Mary Ann, so I wonder if William's mother or grandmother was named Josephine. There were other girls, but their names are unknown. Hope there is someone out there who has some clues to help find this family. Would appreciate any assistance. Thanks ==== ILADAMS Mailing List ==== Having trouble subscribing or unsubscribing? Charles was the father to these girls, not the brother. And he didn't have any siblings named Joseph. I checked. I believe he had all girls, some of whom died young before marriage. So everyone is accounted for...........

One of his sisters, Fanny Lucina, married William Ellsworth Wymer, son of George Wymer. And another sister, Catherine Pearl Winner, married my g-uncle, Sherman Lee Daily, and another sister, Alice Gennetti Maude Winner, married Sherman's brother, Francis Oscar Daily. The only tie in we have to the Wymers is through Fanny Lucina Winner who was married to William. (Aunt "Cina" and Uncle Willy) I cheked the Wymer list of children and found non, nor none of their descendants named Joseph. All though I believe there might have been a few Winners named Joseph down through the years.

I thought IRAD had stopped sending out free info. I made a couple requests from them last May but never got a reply. I think they had become over-whelmed with the volume of requests. I'm waiting on "Soldiers & Sailors Home" info from a very nice lady in Adams Co. . She found it and is sending me. Was so nice of her. I do thank you again and may try IRAD again on an ancestor I can only find in the 1920 census in southern Illinois, he was 2 and 1/2yrs old then. It's a brother I never knew my mother had. Oops Im babbling... :) thanx................ Ray

It took about 3 months but I got about 30 pages between the two of them. It had great info. Birthdate, place, death date burial place and children's names. Great service from them. The best. I have also gotten IL marriage licenses and other info. IL is the best..
