    3. Hi Lori, You can write to the Adams County Clerk. If your ancestors death record is on file they can send you a copy. They are very quick to respond (usually within a week). http://www.co.adams.il.us/county_clerk/vitalrecords/index.htm They have vital records back to 1878. Hope this helps. 1. NEW ROOTSWEB DATA/CHANGES
    2. bobert
    3. NEW ROOTSWEB DATA/CHANGES Dear ADAMS County (IL) Searchers: Just sharing this explanation of the new Rootsweb changes; got this on another list/digest I subscribe to. You can read that subscribers to any List/digest need do nothing - it will be automatic. Shirley: [email protected] Quote: We are excited to announce that in the coming weeks, the RootsWeb.com mailing lists will be moving to a new list management system. Why? The new list management system offers updated technology, better spam control, and more efficient hosting of the lists. When? All the lists won't be updated all at once. In fact, once we start it will take us about two weeks to complete the process. We've posted the additional details about the update and a current update schedule at the link below. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html This page can also be found by following the link found on http://lists.rootsweb.com. If there are any changes to the schedule, we'll update this page to let you know. How will it Affect You? Your current subscription(s) will automatically transfer to the new system so there will be no need to re-subscribe to your list(s), however, because the sending and receiving of list email will be handled by a new system, you may notice a few changes to your list(s). Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout, volume and issue numbers of the list digests. The "-L" is being dropped from the "official" list name. This means the "from" address your mailing list emails come from will be slightly different- [email protected] vs. the current [email protected] You may have to adjust your spam filters or put the new address on your "accept" list to prevent it from being caught in your "junk" folder. This sounds like a big change, but it doesn't have to change the way you use the list. Here's why: - You will still be able to send messages to the list using the "[email protected]" email address you use today. Additionally, you can choose to drop the "-L" and send your messages to [email protected] Both addresses will work after the list has been migrated. - You will still be able to subscribe and unsubscribe to the mail or digest mode by sending your request to [email protected] or [email protected] as you do today. You will also be able to unsubscribe from the mail or digest mode by sending your "unsubscribe" message to [email protected] The tools that list administrators use to manage their list will also be changing. If you are a list admin, you will be contacted in an additional email on Monday with more details and a link to a tutorial. We're excited about the improvements to the lists because we feel confident that they will ensure that the mailing lists continue to run smoothly for years to come. We appreciate your patience while we make this transition and hope that the RootsWeb mailing lists will continue to be a valuable tool in your genealogy research. I'm trying to research McKerns in Scotland/Ireland and was wondering whether you had any information that might help. The confirmed information I have is as follows: Robert McKerns (death certificate names him as Robert-Smith McKerns). His profession was a master saddler Born: approx. 1833, Ireland Married: 20th Jan 1854 Dundonald Died: 28th Jan 1912 Wife: Margaret MacKie Born: approx. 1836, Ayrshire, Scotland. My link to them is their son, James Bryson McKerns, Born: 13th July 1871, Kilmarnock. Married: 26th Feb 1891 Glasgow to Lilias-Jane Dickie. I know it's a lot to hope for, but I'm really interested in where in Ireland the family came from and what they were doing in Scotland. Other than that, I'll be hugely greatful for ANY information you might have regarding this family. Many thanks, Jenny

    1. Joseph Frank (Franklin) Pedrick and his descendants
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Wg.2ADE/4661 Message Board Post: Originally filed in Karned County, Texas website Author: Richard Pullen Date: 4 Nov 2004 10:48 AM GMT I recently discovered that Joseph Frank (Franklin) Pedrick, an older brother of my Great Grandmother, Anna Elizabeth Pedrick Sears, was living in Karnes County, Texas in 1910. Joseph's parents were Joel Wheeler Pedrick and Mary Catherine Jenkins, documented elsewhere in Rootsweb. Their children are also well documented in Rootsweb. Anna Pedrick Sears was the grandmother of my mother, Juanita Lavelle Sears Pullen. Before her death, Anna recounted much of the family stories to Juanita. One that was always sad and incomplete was the story of Anna's brother, Frank.....Joseph Frank (Franklin) Pedrick. (he was the eldest of the four Pedrick children and was born in Payson, Adams County, Illinois on 07-12-1868. Frank was 13 when his father died suddenly. He must have stayed around the family for a couple of more years but was not happy with the situation. It seems that when Frank was about 15 or 16, he made the decison to leave the family and "go south to Texas". The family never saw or hard from him again...ever. Anna died in 1953 and in her last days, she wanted badly to see her brother. It was not to be. If you are a decesndant of Joseph Frank (Franklin) Pedrick who once lived in Karnes County, Texas. please be in contact. I have much on the Pedrick and Jenkins families. Email me directly at [email protected] if possible. Thanks/Rich Pullen
