    3. Hi Margaret, There won't be a Quincy newspaper that has a more complete obituary. I don't know where the town was from in Missouri where he died. Did you check Missouri newspapers? A newspaper local to where he died might contain more information. Also, I'm not too familiar with the Druids, Odd Fellows or IOMA. Perhaps those organizations had records that still exist. Have you checked that avenue? Perhaps someone on this list might know? Good luck searching! 3. Good Morning, This information was found through Ancestry -- I found a Samuel Arden in the 1840 US Census for Blount County, Tennessee Back then, they didn't list the individual names of the persons in the household, only their ages. Samuel I am going to assume is the HoH. Here are the following ages in the household: 1 Male under 5 years old 1 Male 5-10 years old 1 Male 30-40 years old 1 Male 70-80 years old 2 Females under 5 years old 1 Female 20-30 years old 1 Female 70 -80 years old ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I also found a Thomas Artman in the 1840 US Census for Ogle county, Illinois The ages for this household are: 1 Male 60-70 years old 1 Female under 5 years old 2 Females 15-20 years old 2 Female 20-30 years old 1 Female 40-50 years old -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nothing with all the various spellings of the last name in Illinois in 1850 Sorry I couldn't help more. It appears on page 8, about half way down column 3. This obituary is not very long, but it does have some great detail in it. His wife, Gesche (Flessner) Miller, b. 10 Nov 1817, d. 23 July 1879, is buried in the same plot according to Meints Cemetery records. Due to the differences in his wives' age, 1814 vs 1817, and the fact that there is not any mention of "Flessner" in the birth/baptism records, I believe Gesche Flessner Miller is his second wife and they were married sometime after the July 31, 1851 birth of his last child, whose mother was Geesche Dircks, b. 1814. I am still looking for confirmation of this theory via a marriage license or obituary giving more information about Gesche Flessner and Gerd Focken Miller. Thanks to everyone who provided clues about this family prior to locating the LDS microfilm records. Any information about Gesche Dircks Meints Mueller would be greatly appreciated.
