All Leenerts / Lahners / Leenderts and some Lehners. After a quick look at my files I have several Aden (without the "s") family members in it. Including a link through the Leenerts family by way of marriage (Henry Menne Aden b. 28 Dec 1841 to Ettje Maria Leenerts b. 18 Jun 1844 / John F. Aden b. 14 Apr 1834 to Engel Lina Heyen Leenderts b. 03 Oct 1840).
Buffington is part of my family and one of them married a Veach. I will have to check my files and tell you who it was. Martha Buffington married Henry Diehl 3/13/1866 Adams Cty So I guess if Jacob Buffington married Jelico Veach in 1856 the first 5 children are his. Ellen and James Veach in the 1860 census are hers. Then in 1870 James is listed as Wiley.. The only Ellen Veach I can find marrying was in 1884. Ellen Veach married Francis B. My GG grandfather was Lewis Schacke (seemed to change it to Shockey along the way) who married Caroline Webber (Weber) in Quincy, Adams, IL on 05/11/1856. Evidently, he died somewhere between that date and the 1880 Census where Caroline Shockey was listed as being a widow and was living with their son John Shockey (age 22), daughter Lulu Shockey (age 19), and her mother C. Annie Weber (also listed on previous censuses as Nancy) (age 70). LS was born in Germany and CWS was born in IL as were her two children. According to this cenus, her mother was born in PA. However, in an earlier census, she was listed as being born in Germany. I can't believe that it's been over six years since you posted this message and I've just seen it! Anyway, hopefully the intervening years have been kind to you and now you're a font of info re Civil War Shockeys! LOL! Seriously though, I'm wondering if my Schacke/Shockey relative died during the Civil War. diane
