It doesn't look as if it were the original tombstone... The 1880 census information with birth place as Holstein was presumably given by Carl Heinecke himself. But as we know, the census often contains errors. So the question as to Carl Heinecke's birth area remains to be answered... Kentucky to Illinois after 1850 and died in Illinois before 1859, but the county is unknown. Samuel was born in Maryland. Due to his advanced age, he likely moved to Illinois because he was probably living with a son (possibly Robert Barnes) or a daughter who moved to Illinois. A search of the 1860 Census in Illinois does not appear to show any of his children. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I don't know who Lyman's mother was or where this family ended up. I haven't found death or cemetery records for him or his family members. I am looking for Heinecke connections to my great grandfather, Christian Heinecke, who came to Quincy (Adams County), Illinois. Members of his family cannot find any personal information about his family (parents, siblings, German place of birth etc.). The "Golden" Heineckes say we are not connected, but somehow I feel we are...any communication on this would be appreciated. I see where you already made a connection with Karen Trouvat. She and i have exchanged information and thoughts as well...Thanks, Larry Mock Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Would like to verify parents and correct birth date of Gretje/Hannah Bunting, (umlaut over u), born 1837-1838 in Timmel, Ostfriesland. She married Bartelt Hinrichs Bartell, on 19 June 1857, in Adams County, IL. Bart was born 1823 in Fahne, Ostfriesland. Marriage certificate does not show parents. Archives states there is no death certificate available for Gretje. Both are buried in Kopmann Cemetery, near Flatville, in Champaign County, Illinois. Timmel OSB indicates she may be a child of Focke Meints Bunting and Gretje Focken (Kettwich) deVries, but I would like to substantiate this. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
