    3. I was checking Kentucky for my Donham/Dunham family. I ran across the Denhams in eastern Kentucky during early times. I believe that it was around Louisville area. A book is out on the early Denham family. I believe that it is in the Mormon Library. I copied a lot of the early pages to see if it was my family. The lady that wrote the book swares in the early pages that there are no connection with the Donham/Dunham line. Are you aware of the book?     2. hello i am in possession of a book titled the illustrated encyclopedia of Madison county Illinois published in 1873 it has information on the first families to come to Madison county Illinois. biographies, pictures, nativity's, dates, occupation marriages, children, deaths, plat maps it is a wonderful genealogy resource. there is quite a bit of information on some families and others are only mentioned in the partial census records but i would be glad to do lookups. the book is very fragile falling apart so e-mail me privately to get info. portugesered@aol.com good luck Linda

Sarah was born in Illinois about 1858 and family probably lived in or around Saline County because Sarah Ellen married William Temple Owen in Saline County on Sept/10/1876.     3. I was reading a copy of some pages a cousin sent me on Whitten and Allied Families by Virginia Wood Alexander and William C. Whitten Jr. published 1966. In the book there was the IL Whitten's which my ggggg grndfather Elijah Whitten m. Charity Duckett, thier son Easton Whitten m. Wilmoth Johnson dau of John Ambler Johnson a revolutionary soldier. In the Fayette Co IL Facts it mentions John Ambler Johnson . if I read the article correctly he died in Fayette Co IL. Reason sent to Shelby Co IL list is county so close and so many allied families someone may have something on John Ambler Johnson. Tim Casey

So many of my gggrandfather's family were said to have moved to "Southern Illinois" without ever being relegated to a specific town or even county. As there are many counties in Illinois, I felt like I was looking for "a needle in a haystack." My family surnames for the period of 1840 to 1910 include: COLEMAN, ROBERTS, and DAVIS.
