    2. Can anyone do a lookup in 1880 & 1890 Alexander County Illinois Census?  I am looking for my gg grandfather Isaac Collins. He was born in 1836 (based on the marriage certificate to Sarah) Aand he died about 1891, probably in Alexander County Illinois.  He was married to Sarah Cross/Croft.  When they married he was 39 and she 22 yrs.  I feel almost certain he was married once before Sarah.  They married in Alexander County.  I do not know the exact dates of death for Isaac or Sarah.  I was told by my grandmother that Isaac died when a son was 3yrs, that would be about 1891 and that Sarah died as a RYAL (she remarried after Isaac died).  Thank you. Thank you, Angie Husband:    Isaac COLLINS Birth: 1836          Death: About 1891    Place:    Alexander Cty Illinois Marriage:  11/17/1875      Place:    Alexander County Illinois Wife:    Sarah CROSS  Born: 1853 DIED:?????? 1. [IL-SOUTHERN] Pemberton, Hargarve and Tate
    2. Kent Simpson
    3. I have hit a brick wall researching my great grandparents on my grandmother's side of the Family. My grandfather was James Ebb Hargrave, thru family stories and the family bible records we can trace the Hargraves back to my 5x great grandfather Willis Hargrave who helped establish Illinois as a state. My grandmother is Martha Elizabeth Pemberton Hargrave. Her parents were Mary Marjorie Tate & Samuel Alexander Pemberton. The Tates we can track back to my 3x greatgrandfather John Ventile Tate. The Pembertons are the problem. I can verify grandma & her brothers Wilfred Alexander " uncle WAP",Arnold Eugene & James Arthur "uncle Archie", but we have no idea who Samuel's parents were. Grandpa Samuel died in 1954, we think he was born in 1887, family & friends may have called him "Alec". No other available info so far. I have searched online, at the family history centers and will be making a one day trip to Saline County next week. Does anyone have a suggestion where I could look?! I know they lived in Eldorado when I was little, I know one son died in the 1930's & is probably buried in Eldorado or Tate's Chapel cemetary. Thanks in advance Tracy Simpson

    2. Kimberly Cooper
    3. Hi, Looking for help. I am trying to research my Cooper heritage and have come to a dead end w/ my ggrandfather, John Wesley Cooper. The earliest information I can find on him is an 1880 census in Village of Liberty, Burnt Prairie Township, White County, Illinois. He is listed at the age of 13 as a nephew living with Ed. Burnwick and his wife Amanda Hon Burnwick. I am not sure which one is the blood nephew of. I can only find a Mary J. Burnwick married to a Daniel Hon (double relation?). I can find some info on Amanda’s family, but none that show a Cooper link. The census shows John W’s father as born in KY and mother in Germany. Found where John W. married an Elizabeth “Lizzie” Stuart, but only a listing, no parent info. They are listed in the 1910 census living in City of Grayville, White County, IL with their 6 children. My grandfather, Ernest, is one of them and seems to be named after Ed. and Amanda’s son or a common relative. Thanks for any help. Kim

    3. Dear Angie, Never give up the search. Search Ancestry.com and GEDCOM on your own. I have a direct line grandmother Collins and recently added her parents. It is the following: Cyprian COLLINS +Azuba GIBBS Amanda COLLINS b 1754 in Goshen, CN, d 1838 Lexington Twp, Greene Co, NY. +Joseph Brooks b 1735 in Scituate Colony of MA, bur with honors for REV WAR Joseph B Brooks All the Brooks/Collins migrated to LaSalle Co, IL very early so they could be relatives. Then, that particular surname is a major one with Appalachian folks. Glad to share more. Please write narrow@mediaone.net. 2. Sharon Lengfellner
    3. Dear Angie, Sorry you have hit a dead end. Before I studied my own line, I studied the well done research of my husbands genealogy. Everton's Genealogical Helper was my teacher. They indicated that my husband's family names Winyn, Winen, Wine soon became "Vine, Vines" in America. The Holland/Dutch/German/ pronunciation of W and V are the same. So, one can assume your Vines people could Wines, Wyne, Winen, like my husband's. Seems like there is always a person in the family who wanted to changed their name, OR, their census taker just spelled it phoenetically. Also, study Virginia for this name as they moved down the Appalacian Mts into TN.
