St Clair Co is Illinois side of St Louis area. Main newspaper would be St Louis Post-Dispatch. There may be individual smaller papers in some of the small towns, but Post is major. If you go looking into archives--- there was another paper--- Globe-Democrat , but that went out of circulation several years ago....
Try the Illinois Newspaper Project.
Anyone on the list know what newspapers serve the St. Clair county in Illinois? Any website or other information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hello listers. I'm trying to obtain any information on a Marie Makarevich b. 1/14/1909 d. Jul 1976 Oak Forest, IL county of Cook. I'm trying to find out if her maiden name was Harris and/or her parents' names. Anyone with any information on this woman is always greatly appreciated.
Sorry Angie, without any detailed information a manual lookup could take a long long time. You need the exact county, township or enumeration dist. and the year census you want to have researched. Thanks for your understanding. ----- Original Message ----- From: <ADib102684@aol.com> To: <IL-SOUTHERN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 02, 2001 7:10 AM Subject: [IL-SOUTHERN] McClellan/McClelland family lookup in 1860,1870, 1880 : Can I get a census look up pleas on the McCllean family, unknown county, but : had to be in in Pulaski at least in 1890. : : Thank you. : Angie : : : Name: Thomas Wesley Mc CLELLAN : Birth Date: About 1854 : Birth Place: IL : : Spouse: Bathsheba/Bethsheba MILFORD : Marriage Date: Sep 26, 1893 : Marriage Place: Pulaski County Illinois : Children: Chris : Everett : Ernest : Agustus (Gus) : Fredrick : : Research: : Bathsheba MILFORD : " Mc CLELLAN, Thomas Wesley : : Mc CLELLAN and Mc Mc CLELLAND spelled both ways : : Angela DiBlasi : Lewis County MOGenWeb : www.rootsweb.com/~molewis/ : Ripley County, Indiana GenWeb : www.rootsweb.com/~inripley/ : Jasper County, Illinois Genealogy : www.rootsweb.com/~iljasper/ : : :

Looking for one unknown man in general! Ok, that is going to be hard. But I am sure someone out there can help me find the missing father! I need to find any and/or all the families living in or around the Pulaski County area in 1880 - 1890. There is one man in that time period whom married Bethsheba Milford. During or after Bethsheba got preg. with MR. KEEFER's daughter, he left town to never return. They did marry and I would guess it was about 1878/1879 because the baby, Lilly Mae Keefer, was born in Jan 1880. In the 1880 census, it show Bethsheba Milford back in her mom and dad's house with her daughter, but the census taker wrote Leland instead of Lilly Mae. Can someone help me find the name of Lilly's dad? Angie Have you tried contacting the courthouse for a birth record. By 1880 it would have the father's name. According to the web page November 22, 1879-Fire- Most records lost. Could you look up Sadler/Saddler in St. Clair Co. in 1890? Thank you Pat(F)

Hello again listers. I must say that my post for doing lookups for the 1890, 1900 & 1910 census reports has been overwhelming!! I will be happy to research the requests with the county and E.D. information provided. However, those requesting lookups for Cook Co. must provide the E.D. or at least the township. The amount of districts for Cook Co. are as follows: 1880 Census Chicago - 208 districts Other townships - 30 districts 1900 Census Chicago - 1,228 districts Other townships - ? 1910 Census Chicago - 1,473 districts Other townships - 141 districts So you see, it would take an exhuberant amount of time to look up your requests for Cook Co. manually without the information provided. For all other listers who sent in requests with the information provided, please be patient, I'm working on it :) Thanks for your consideration....
Hello all. Just happened to come across this website and thought it might help anwer some census questions. Good luck.... http://www.ipums.umn.edu/~pipums/voliii/inst1900.html
Yesterday I posted to the list that I would do volunteer lookups for illinois on the 1890, 1900 and 1910 census reports. Should anyone have a request, please feel free to contact me. I must announce however that I am manually researching the reports, I don't have a database to look through. I have to go through each report page by page. So if you do have a request, please let me know the County and E.D. (if possible) so I may be able to assist you.
Dear Listers, Thanks to all for responding to my post on Neal Harris for So. Illinois. I am happy to announce that late last night I came accross my grandmother and her family in Jackson County Illinois on the 1910 census report. The reason I was having a hard time tracing Helen Harris my grandmother, is because she went by her middle name Agnes. That is how her name appears on the census report. Just wanted to let everyone know how hard work and determination can really pay off!! Thanks all....
Hello fellow listers. I am looking for the family of Neal Harris b. 2/3/1872 d. 6/14/1918. Wife's name is Maria Harris nee McClure. As per the 1900 census for Randolph County, Percy, IL, Neal & Maria had 2 girls - Lily and Helen. I am trying to locate the family in 1910 to find out how many other children were in this family. Helen was my grandmother and I have absolutely no record of any brothers or sisters nor did she ever speak of any. I have checked 14 So. Illinois counties so far and still have yet to find them. So, should anyone happen to come across a Neal Harris (spelling is not common, usually spelled Neil) or any of the names mentioned above, please contact me. Also, I would be more than happy to do a lookup for anyone on the 1910 census reports for Illinois. Please feel free to contact me. Thanks in advance.

John Milford in Pulaski County census lookup please. Also, is there anyone out there that can find the parents of Lily Mae Keifer? She was born Jan 23 1880 in Pulaski County Illinois and died June 28 1959 in Alexander County Illinois. She first married George Rife and then to Enoch Hase. So at death she was Lily Mae Hase. It is said that her mother was Bathsheba Milford and her dad a Keifer. I found Bathsheba married William Long in 5-18-1876 and then to William Henry harrison Wheaton on April 2 1882. Lily Mae was born in 1880 as a Keifer. There is a Leland Keefer listed in the 1880 census living in the home of John Milford and his wife. This Leland is listed as a female (Leland is a males name) born in 1874. Was ther two sisters to Bathsheba who married two different Keifer men? Also, Bathsheba was living in her parents home in the 1880 census using her maiden name. I feel that perhaps Lily's parents passed on and perhaps at a young age, Bathsheba raised her as her own child. Is there a way for someone to do a birth check for Lily Mae Keifer?
