Article Text: Lois I. Collier, 96, of Morton died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Hopedale Nursing Home in Hopedale. She was born Sept. 26, 1911 in Derry Twp to Fred Sr. and Lenna (Shinn) Reel. She married Lloyd Russell Collier Jan. 20, 1932 in Pittsfield. He preceded her in death May 7, 1961. She is survived by a son, Larry K. (Betty) Collier of Groveland; grandsons, Stephen (Christy) Collier and Mick Laidler; a granddaughter, Daun (Wade) Fornoff; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Reel of Arlington, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Reel of Mesa, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great-grandson, Cody Collier; brothers, Stephen, Paul, Arthur, John, Fred and Maynard Reel; and sisters, Rachel Losch and Juanita Waltershied. She was a resident of the area since 1952 moving here from New Canton. She graduated from Bradley University and obtained her masters from Illinois State University. She was a teacher for 41 years in District 150 having taught at Hines, Harrison and Sterling Schools. She was a member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. She was also a member of Pi Lambda Theta and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was Past-President of The Retired Teachers of Peoria. A visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. today, Wednesday at the Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home, 428 W. McClure Ave. Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Randy Webb will officiate. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be directed to the Children's Miracle Network or the American Heart Association.
