Article Text: Trula E. Cheek, 90, of Pittsfield died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at the home of daughter Joyce Smith, Marshall, Mo. She was the daughter of Elmer E. Ward and Adrian Sara Lynch Ward born May 10, 1917 in Rockport. She worked for Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield as a fancy stitcher, later was a homemaker in her own home. She married Laurence R. Cheek Dec. 21, 1938 and he preceded her Feb. 23, 1991. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint work, gardening, and loved feeding birds and squirrels. She is survived by three daughters, Charlene M. Crum of Marshall, Mary E. (Gene) Rose of Independence, Mo. and Joyce A. (Ed) Smith of Marshall; a brother, Everett D. Ward of Rushville; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Preceded by two brothers Hubert Ward and Wayne Ward. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, with Bro. Ed Smith officiating Burial will be at the Crescent Heights Cemetery, Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 4 until 8 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, IL. Memorials are to the Shiner's Hospital for Children - St. Louis Unit.
