He and W I Seavey, of the American Telephone Co, were working on the lines in front of L A Walker’s blacksmith shop, when Charles lost his balance and fell to the ground, a distance of 35 feet. It was a fearful fall from the top of one of these tall poles to the stone street and the wonder is that he was not killed. The wounded man was carried to Mr. Seavey’s home and Dr. Burtt attended to his injuries. The doctor found that one of Charles’ arms was broken, his head and face badly cut and bruised, and his body inured about the hips. None of the wounds are fatal but he is very badly hurt. However the injured man was able to be taken to the home of Arden Sherwood, Thursday morning, where his mother and others are giving him the best of care. It will be several days or maybe months before Charles will be able to climb telephone poles again.
