Article Text: Metropolis, Ill., April 15. Mrs. Mamie MCFARLAND, daughter of Thomas M. RICHMOND, of Metropolis, Ill., eloped on last Thursday, with Henry LEDBETTER, a married man, aged 25 years. For over a year LEDBETTER has been paying marked attention to Mrs. MCFARLAND, and, it is alleged, occasioned a separation between her and her husband. Mrs. MCFARLAND returned to her father's house, and was welcomed to the paternal roof, where all went well until last Christmas, when LEDBETTER, who lived in Kentucky, visited Metropolis and sought an interview with Mrs. MCFARLAND. Mr. RICHMOND, the father, refused to permit the interview until informed by his daughter that it would be a final interview, and then in company with her brother she visited him at the hotel. This last act was the occasion of her dismissal as teacher of a class from the Christian Sunday-school. J. F. MCCARTHY, the Superintendent, demanded of her whether she did not get out of bed and visit LEDBETTER. She replied that! she did not, which was literally true. MCCARTHY charged her with lying and humiliated her by dismissing her from the school.
