"Bill" Article Text: William C. "Bill" Horman, 82, of Hardin, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at St. Louis University Hospital. The retired barber was a World War II Army veteran and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. He served as Hardin Village trustee until 1952, then was elected mayor of Hardin in 1974, and was active until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church, past commander of the American Legion Post 636 and the Lions Club, all in Hardin. Born Dec. 20, 1925 in Deer Plain, he was the son of the late William B. and Golda G. (Eichhorn) Horman. He married Daisy L. Eudy April 10, 1948 in Alton and she died Aug. 20, 2005. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James W. and Nancy Horman of Hardin; two daughters and one son-in-law, JoAnn and Jerry Rose of Hardin and Betty Meyer of Golden Eagle; a sister, Ruth Bowles of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Bick; a granddaughter, Missy Bick. Visitation was held Sunday at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin. The funeral was conducted Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin with Rev. Bill Kessler officiating. Burial was in St. Norbert's Cemetery in Hardin.
