Article: Drowned. Yesterday evening Chas Giddings, son of A. R. Giddings, of Clayton township, was drowned in a pond about five miles east of Clayton. He had gone out to the pond in company with several other young men to take a bath and it is supposed that he was seized with cramps, as he sunk in deep water, and before assistance reached him life was extinct. Young Giddings was about 21 years of age, was a young man of spotless character, and enjoyed the highest degree of confidence in the community where he was known. His death will prove a double affliction to his parents from the fact that a daughter was buried only two days previous. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
