He was born Oct. 15, 1914 to Ruth Borrowman Ramsey and Larkin Ramsey near Bellview. Sept. 26, 1940 he married Faye Maxine Waggoner in Palmyra, Mo. and they were married almost 62 years. During WWII Lafe worked for the Western Cartridge Co. in East Alton. He spent most of his life working in the timber business and worked for Hiram Walker buying white oak trees before retirement. Lafe was blessed with a keen memory. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and he always had a new story to tell. He loved watching sporting events and remained well informed about the players, as well as, their families and interests. Survivors include eight children, Glenna Uram and her husband Frank of Belleview, Carolyn Crater and her husband Don of Ashland, Dick Ramsey and his wife Billie of Nebo, Jean Cowen and her husband Tim of Camp Point, Rick Ramsey of Springfield, Rex Ramsey and his wife Jeana of Milton, Joyce Dodson and her husband Ed of Pittsfield and Randy Ramsey of Vandalia, Mo; 11 grandchildren, Monty Ramsey of Milton, Cindy Weger and husband Dennis of Jacksonville, Donita Greening and her husband Ed of Chapin, Leah Barber and her husband Mike of Dunlap, Luke Crater and his wife Laura of Springfield, Quentin Ramsey and his wife Stacey of Nebo, Crystal Eddington and her husband Terry of Nebo, Rhett Cloninger and his wife Amber of Clayton, Deidre Cloninger of Springfield, Burgundy Ramsey of Pittsfield and Reese Ramsey of Pittsfield; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye, his son, Bob, and two sisters, Ida and Irene. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 26 at 11 a.m. with visitation at Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. with Bro. Wilson Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at the Green Pond Cemetery near Pearl.
