She was born June 24, 1950 in Pittsfield to Kenneth and Norma (Martin) Gwartney. She married Steve Schmidt in Pittsfield and he survives. She owned and operated the Barry Flower Shop for several years. She also enjoyed mushroom hunting and flowering and gardening. But her favorite activity was spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by a daughter, Kim Schmidt Irvin, husband Joe, of New Canton; a son, Stephen Schmidt of New Canton; a daughter, Dana Schmidt of New Canton; and a son, Brian Gwartney, of Griggsville; 11 grandchildren, Kaylee, Kylee and Kayce Irvin, Hope and Jeffrey Schmidt, Brandon Schmidt and Blake Sisk, all of New Canton, Zachary Harris of Griggsville and Samantha, McKenzie and K.J. Gwartney, all of Griggsville; two brothers, Kenneth (Bud) Gwartney and wife Shelia of Barry and Will Gwarney Robinson and wife Yvonne, of Ft. Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Judy Meyers and husband Roger of Quincy and Barb Malone, husband Bud, of Kinderhook. She was preceded in death by an infant sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17 at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry and visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.
