Article Text: Kyle W. Waite, age 82, of the White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in White Hall, and formerly of Griggsville, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Rehabilitation Center. He was born Nov. 4, 1925 in Griggsville to the late Wesley and Edna Bartlett Waite. He married Genevieve Westfall and later married Ladye Huey and both preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Potter and husband Larry of New Salem and Janet Surrells of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a son, Roger K. Waite and wife Cathy of Bluffs; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Benson of Pittsfield and Louise Opoien of Marinette, Wis.; two brothers, Paul Waite and wife Mildred and Ralph Waite all of Pittsfield; a special friend, Lois Long of Pittsfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; step-mother, Lucille Waite; a grandson, Roger Vincent Waite; a great-grandson, Dalton Lee Garman; and one sister, Helen Waite. Kyle was a 1943 graduate of Griggsville High School and farmed most of his life on the family farm west of Griggsville. He also hauled anhydrous for Farm Service and sold seed corn for Pioneer Hybrids. Kyle attended the Pittsfield Church of Christ and loved church activities. He also loved card games, pitching horseshoes, and getting together with family and friends. He was a member of the New Salem Masonic Lodge in New Salem as well as the Rebekah Lodge and International Order of the Odd Fellows in Winchester. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville. Burial was in Hinman Chapel Cemetery rural Pike County. Visitation was held one hour prior to services Saturday at the chapel.
