Article Text: Amy E. Engle, 92, of Griggsville, died April 16, 2008, in the Emergency Room at Illini Community Hospital, Pittsfield. She was born in Okema, Okla. May 25, 1915 to Silas and Dolly Pogue Tinkle. She married L. C. "Leonard" Engle in Mt. View, Ark. and he preceded her in death. Amy was a homemaker, a Nurse's Aid at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, and worked at Lemon's IGA in Pittsfield. She had also operated a grocery and gas station in Mt. View. She enjoyed babysitting for local families, needlework and crafts, flower gardening, and cooking for family and friends. She was the published author of "From Covered Wagons to Jet Planes. Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Doris) Engle and John Engle of Mt. View; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Little of Griggsville; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son Peter Engle, a brother Roscoe P. Tinkle, and three sisters, Agnes, Ola, and Gladys. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19, in Mt. View. Burial was at the Levesy Flat Cemetery in Mt. View. Memorials are to the Levesy Flat Cemetery c/o Niebur North Pike Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 562, Griggsville, IL 62340.
