Article Text: Esther V. Bash, 89, of Peru, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Barry Community Care Center in Barry, Illinois, following an eight-month illness. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday March 24, at Pittsfield West Cemetery. The Rev. John Ruzich will officiate. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru. Mrs. Bash was born Dec. 14, 1918 in Pike County to Wilson and Viola (Irick) Barley. She married Cecil J. "Bud" Bash Jan. 26, 1946 in Chicago. She was co-owner of Bash Home Improvement in Peru, and later worked at Westclox. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a past president of Illinois Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by one nephew, W.W. Scott of Frankfort; one niece, Mary Kay Bennett of Vandalia; five great-nieces; one great-great-niece; and one great-great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband March 24, 1999; three sisters, Emma Scott, Leona Neuman and Darlene Arnett; and one brother, Loraine Barley.
