She was born September 7, 1917 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Russell and Ethel Tannahill Crawford. She married Eldon Riffey Dec. 23, 1935 and he preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by two sons; Donald (wife, Sharon) of Wamego, KS, Darrell (wife, Elizabeth) of Baylis; one daughter Sharon Shannon of Beardstown, fourteen grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two sons, James and John, a daughter, Ethel Mae, in infancy; a brother, Charles, and two sisters, Evelyne and Vivian. She retired after many years at Passavant Hospital Dietary Department. She loved to sew, embroider, and loved to travel. She played bingo, loved gospel music and going to church. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, and being baptized in 1932 was the oldest living member of the church. Funeral Services were 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly with Rev. Len Penny officiating. Rod Marlow played piano and sang "Peace in the Valley" and "Just a Closer Walk" Burial was in Waverly East Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doug Shannon, Darin, Thomas, Corbin, Justin and Donald Riffey, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers were Dennis Shannon, Mike Braid, Darrell Adams, David and Jonathan Coleman, Kevin, Jeff, David, Brian and Michael Riffey. Memorials are suggested to Jacksonville Convalescent Center Resident Activity Fund.
