Born Aug.7, 1955 in Boston, Mass. he was a son of Edward Byrne and Betty Bernard. He married Sallie Schedel Sept. 16,1985 in Las Vegas, Nev. and she survives. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was the Head Lockman for the Army Corp. of Engineers at the Quincy. Lock and Dam. Mr. Bowers was a member of the US Army Corp of Engineers Emergency Team and served two tours of duty in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He was a Catholic and attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Pittsfield. Dan enjoyed fishing, playing softball, bowling, hunting, doing yard work and spending time with his son Michael. Survivors are his wife Sallie of Pittsfield, his son Michael of the home, his stepfather Bob Bowers of Kalama, Wash.; a daughter, Tracy Bowers of Fairfax, Va.; a brother, James Bowers Jr. of Antiock, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Patricia Britcher of San Diego, Calif.; and nieces and nephews. Preceded by his mother, a twin brother Edward and a sister Carol Ann. Graveside services will be today, Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Pittsfield West Cemetery with Rev. John Ruzich officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Pittsfield American Legion Post 152. Friends called Tuesday from 4 till 7 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.
