He was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Nebo, Ill., to John and Elva (Guthrie) Pruett. His marriage to the former Betty Jean Brown took place Jan. 11, 1947, in Collinsville, Ill. She survives. The U.S. Air Force veteran served as a staff sergeant during World War II. He retired from Clark Oil Co. as an operating engineer and was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights and Firemen's Auxiliary in South Roxana. In addition to his wife, survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Pruett. Visitation was held before service, Tuesday, March 4 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. The Rev. Daryl Fansler officiated. Burial was at Wanda Cemetery.
