I haven't seen anyone give you a better answer than this so I'll give you mine. I don't live in Illinois any longer but I was born and raised in the Alton area and still have much research to do there as my family was there for a few generations before me. I have found Cathie at the Hayner Public Library to be very helpful. She will charge you $5.00 but she is very helpful and polite and will stop at nothing to help you find what you are looking for.
