Article Text: CLAYTON, Ill. " Lorene T. Padgett, 89, of Golden Good Shepherd Home, formerly of Clayton, died at 1:23 a.m. Tuesday (May 13, 2008) in the home. Born Sept. 3, 1918, in Golden, Lorene was a daughter of Menne and Trientje Bienhoff Aden. She married Harold Lozelle Padgett on March 1, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death. Lorene was a member of the First Federated Church of Clayton and a 63-year member of the Clayton American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts, and she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family. Mrs. Padgett was employed as the water and sewer department clerk for the Village of Clayton from 1965 until her retirement in 1994. Survivors include a son, Dennis Padgett (Judy) of Clayton; a daughter, Patricia Baker (Dennis) of Quincy; four grandchildren, Tracy Cornwell (Blake) of Quincy, Jason Padgett (Beth Griffin) of Clayton, Lorie Obert (Brian) of Camp Point, and Deon Baker (Sa! ra) of Quincy; eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Cole, and Eryn Cornwell, Griffin Padgett, Branden and Madelynn Obert, Paige Schreacke, and Ayden Baker; a sister, Miriam Carstens of Golden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Michael Padgett; three sisters; and two brothers. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in the First Federated Church of Clayton with the Rev. Dixie Croxton conducting. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery in Clayton. VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton.
