Born December 10, 1908 in El Dara, IL., Rachel was the daughter of Charles Otis and Ida Jones Royalty. She married Frank Virgil Tipton on October 3, 1926 in Payson. He died February 16, 1967. Rachel enjoyed yard work and growing flowers. She was first employed at International Shoe Company and then as a dietary worker at Webster School and at the Illinois Veterans Home for several years until her retirement in 1992. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Ruth Schnoor and Connie Sue Waters and her husband Bill, both of Quincy; a son, William "Bill" Tipton and his wife Norma of Quincy; nine grandchildren, James Tipton and his wife Mary and David Tipton and his wife Pat, both of Quincy, Charlene Willis of Bowling Green, MO., Julia Bussing of Seattle WA., Margaret and Lisa Schnoor, both of Silver Spring, MD., Damon Waters and his wife Nicole of Cave Creek, AZ., Brent Waters and his wife Melanie of St. Charles, MO., and Jeffrey Waters of Chicago; twelve great grandchildren, Heather Daffron, Krista Willis, Matthew, Jason, Adam, Jared, Tyler, and Samantha Tipton, Kimberly Bussing, Andrew, Paige, and Dylan Waters; a great great grandson, Brett Daffron; a brother, Charles Royalty and his wife Ruth of Camp Point, a sister in law, Ilene Royalty of Clayton, IL., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a great great grandson, Brendon Daffron; three brothers, Paul, Thomas, and Wendell Royalty; and two sisters, Eva Ostrem and Barbara Doan. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Stephen Schuette. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
