She was born June 16, 1919 in rural Perry, Il. daughter of the late Robert and Mary Bradbury White. She married Lyndle Merle Waters on July 19, 1941 in Quincy, Il. and he preceded her in death on October 11, 1994. Surviving is one daughter, Carol Bradshaw and husband Jim of Pittsfield, Il.; two sons, Lynn Waters and wife Rosemary of Perry, Il., and Merle Waters of Pittsfield, Il.; seven grandchildren, Becky Shriver, and David Bradshaw of Ursa, Il., Jill Nicholson and husband Harold of Danville, Il., Julie Holaway and husband Mark of Jacksonville, Il., Murray Waters and wife Alissa of Griggsville, Il., Michele Hannant and husband Kurt of Perry, Il., and Kevin Waters and wife Cynthia of Perry, Il.; eleven great-grandchildren, Bret and Michael Shriver of Ursa, Il., Dakota Bradshaw of Payson, Il., Calee Nicholson of Danville, Il., Katelyn, C! aleb and Hunter Holaway all of Jacksonville, Il., Ashley and Kyle Waters of Griggsville, Il., and Mercedes and Kendall Hannant of Perry, Il.; two brothers, Dale White and wife Elizabeth of Perry, Il. and Maurice “Frosty” White and wife Pat of Perry, Il.; a brother-in-law, Elmo Waters and wife Elizabeth of Pittsfield, Il.; a special friend, Edna Kurfman of Perry, Il.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband. Mrs. Waters attended Dexter school as a child and was a 1936 graduate of Perry High School in Perry, Il. She then attended Western Illinois Teacher’s College in Macomb, Il. and later taught in Hopewell and Perry Schools for 39 years retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Perry Presbyterian Church where she was church pianist and a member of the Presbyterian Guild. She was also a member of Dexter Community Club, Pike Co. Home Extension, and Illinois Retired Teacher’s Association. Wilma loved to teach and each child ! she taught was special to her. In 1999, Wilma received the Honored Cit izen Award at Perry Pioneer Days. Wilma loved the activities at the Liberty Village and recently, Wilma was the Valentine Queen at the Liberty Village. Wilma also loved to square dance. Above all, Wilma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (May 11, 2007) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Il. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Perry Cemetery Association or to the Liberty Village Activity Fund.
