Article Text: GOLDEN, Ill. " Albert E. Albers, 89, of Golden died at 4:55 p.m. Monday (May 12, 2008) in the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden. He was born on Sept. 26, 1918, in Golden, a son of Eilert and Wilhelmine Goldenstein Albers. He married Irma Ideus on Sept. 20, 1942, in Golden. She died Nov. 2, 1997. Mr. Albers was a farmer for his family farm for most of his life, later becoming a painter, painting several barns and farming structures and retiring in 1999. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden, Immanuel Lutheran Brotherhood, the church choir and the Adams County Farm Bureau, and he was a member of the Golden Lions Club for over 30 years. He was most proud of once being named Golden’s Citizen of the Year. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, and he liked to be out visiting family and friends. He is survived by three sons, Larry Albers of Denver, Colo., Roger (Bonita) Albers of Golden and Gregory (Rhonda) Albers of Golden; two daughters, Gloria (Alan) Reusc! hel of Camp Point and Kristy (Richard) Goudschaal of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Shari (Jeff) Horras, Scott (Angie) Reuschel, Dustin (Katy) Gouldschaal and Megan and Chelsie Goudschaal and Larry D. Albers Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Sierra and Shyenne Horras, Alexis, Cody and Luke Reuschel and Jacob Albers; five stepgrandchildren, Connie (Virgil) Frese of Quincy, Diana (Kevin) McCarthy of Virginia, Butch (Mary) Sebers of Marengo, Larry Kauffman of Carthage and Jerry Kauffman of Golden. Also surviving are four brothers, Francis (Virginia) Albers of Golden, the Rev. Paul (Erna) Albers of Australia, Ernest (Arlene) Albers of Grandview, Iowa, and Raymond (Jeanette) Albers of Golden; two sisters, Mildred (Joel) Croxton of La Prairie and Rosalie (Tony) DeNiro of Munroe Falls, Ohio; three sistersin- law, Lois (Robert) Croxton, Margaret and Maxine Ideus; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Albers! . SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden with the Rev. Linda Murray conducting. Interment will follow at Golden Memorial Gardens in Golden. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden.
