Graveside services and burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Kinderhook Cemetery in Kinderhook. Rev. Tim Goodman officiated. The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements. The family will have a private visitation. Miss Meyer was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Kinderhook to Bernard Leon and Marie Adkins Meyer, and was raised on the family farm south of Hull. Survivors include two brothers, Elmo Meyer and wife Lois, and Dale Meyer and wife Dee, all of Hull. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Pauline Meyer Snyder, and brother-in-law L.R. "Jake" Snyder. Miss Meyer attended a country school near Hull, Hull High School, and graduated from Hannibal High School in 1949. She graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Mo. in 1953. She was an educator who taught for nearly forty years. She began her teaching career at Payson and West Pike High Schools in Illinois, and continued in San Francisco, California; Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii; and Aschaffenburg, Hanau, and Frankfurt, Germany. She retired in 1995 after thirty- one years of teaching with the United States Department of Defense Dependent Schools, then returned to Hannibal, Missouri. Miss Meyer loved to travel and did so all over the United States, Europe, Asia and especially loved her safaris in Africa. She loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews and entertain them. She was a dedicated St. Louis Cardinal fan and liked to research genealogy. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or to an organization of the donor's choice. Pallbearers are Jeff Snyder, Paula Snyder, Paulette Hansen, Rick Hansen, Lance Meyer, Shawn Meyer, Scott Meyer, and Nicole Meyer. Honorary pallbearers are Scarlett Meyer, Landon Meyer, Dustin Meyer, Karri Meyer, Whitney Meyer, Krystal Meyer, Kody Meyer, Crystal Lucero, Myra Hansen, and Julia Hansen.
