It is expected that the air tourists will reach Monmouth about 11 o'clock Sunday morning and will leave again soon after 2 o'clock for their homes. In effect, they will just come for the ride, for no program of stunts or fancy flying is comtemplated. E.P. FIELD, acting as representive of Mayor Earl MCKINNON who is now with the 128d field artillery in Wisconsin, will greet the visitors, and also J.L. COSTELLO, representative of the Association of Commerce. ED PRATT Mrs. Ed Pratt died in her home at 832 South Fourth street this morning at 4:35 o'clock. Formerly Eleanor Jones, she was born at Bushnell, Sept. 28, 1886, a daughter of James and Elmira Jones. She married Mr. Pratt May 12, 1904, in Macomb, and they came to Monmouth 30 years ago. He survives, together with the following children - Mrs. Victoria Johnson of Goleta, Cal., Doris, Madeline, Donna, Bonnie, Morris and Melvin, all of Monmouth; Lee, of Menard, and Eugene of Raritan. There are also two brothers, James and Elmer, of Monmouth. She was a member of the Christian church. She was preceded in death by her father; and two brothers, Howard and Wayne Swearinger. Mary moved to Pike County in 2006 from Shelbina, Mo. She had been a secretary for many companies over the years. Mary loved to sew and collect "what nots". She also loved her animals. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb.4, at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial was in Virden Cemetery in Virdin. She was born Oct. 14, 1932 in Mason City to Clarence H and Naomi J. Fletcher Silvernail. Her mother, with whom she shared her birthday, survives in Mason City. Her father, preceded her in death in 1991. She married James B. Maxwell April 9, 1960 in Tempe, Ariz. and he survives in Pittsfield. Before moving from the Manito area to Pittsfield in 1979, she was a homemaker and mother who was very active in the Forest City Community Church, Chancel Choir, the Manito Historical Society and the Forman School District P.T.A. She loved music dancing, gardening and her family and friends and delighted in watching her grandchildren grow. In addition to her mother and husband she is survived by her two children, Janine K. Maxwell of Springfield and special friend Linda Daniels of Springfield; her son Jeffrey D. (wife Rebecca) Maxwell of Lincoln, IL; a brother, D. Michael (wife Marcy) Silvernail of Green Valley; a sister, Betty (husband Jim) Stacy of Lincoln; and her grandchildren, Adam Jeffrey and Anna Grace Maxwell, both of Lincoln; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Graveside services were held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Mason City Cemetery, Mason City with Rev. Thomas Guengerich and Pastor James Sprinkel officiating. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church where she was active in the alter society at the church. Kathie loved the outdoors and loved doing yard work. Born Jan. 21, 1924 in Pittsfield, she was the eldest of three daughters born to Lewis Edward Rowe and Faye Hawthorn Tippetts. Eva Ann was raised and educated in Pittsfield where she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1942. After graduation until 1945 she worked as the chief clerk of the Selective Service System in Pike County. From 1965 until 1978 she worked her way up in the Pittsfield Nursing Center from head dietary supervisor, activity director, personal secretary to the Administrator, then on to Administrator from 1973 to 1978. She then was the manager of Work Activity Center Developmental Training Programs of the Counseling Center of Pike County until her retirement in 1991. In addition, Eva Ann was a member of the Women of the Moose, serving as Senior Regent. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Dec. 22, 1943 Eva Ann Rowe married Donald Dale Little in Wharton, Texas. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1990. Born to this union were six children, Irlyn Lacy of Pittsfield, Donald L. (Brigette) Little of Barry, Rhonda (Dave) Lee of Barry, Betsy (Mark) Pulliam of New Canton, Susie (Loren) Schmidt of Springfield, and Chris (Melissa) Little of Barry. After the tragic death of Mrs. Little's sister and brother-in-law, Betty Lew and Irl Allen Robinson in 1955, Mr. and Mrs. Little blessed their home with the arrival of Melody and Irl Allen Robinson. The new additions helped to mend a grieving family. Melody Robinson of Barry married the late George Myers and Irl Allen Robinson, of Clinton Mo. married the former Rhonda Scranton. All eight children survive to grieve their beloved mother. Fifteen grandchildren also survive: Jennifer (Jon) Stendback, Michael (Tina) Myers, Jerry (Leeann) Myers, Marsha (Eric) Copher, Tony Little, Stephanie Little, Matt Robinson, Mendy (Ed) Pursley, Scott (Darcy) Myers, Anna Simmerman, Caitlin Lee, Mark Coultas, Adam Little, Allie Little, Kindell Brown and numerous great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was born May 31, 1955 in Pittsfield, to John "Jay" and Kathlena Joan Mitchell Ellis. Dennis Paul Ellis graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1973. He served the U.S. Navy from 1973 until 1983, graduated from John Wood Community College with an Associate's Degree in 1986 and Western Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Technology in 1989. He married Shelby A. (Bigsby) Emele in March 1974. They later divorced in 1985. For many years, he taught at several community high schools in mid-central Illinois. He enjoyed his family, teaching, auto racing, and computers. He is survived by his mother, Kathlena Joan Ellis (Husband, Marvin Rakes) of Chatham; two daughters, Denise Ann (Bill) Merschman of Bemidji, Minn., and Tiffany Lynn Ellis of Pittsfield; four grandchildren: Nicholas and Emily Frazer and Alexis and MacKenzie Ellis; a brother, Dr. Richard (Jean) Ellis of La Crosse, Wis.; his aunt, Dorothy Lynn (Buddy) Newman of Pittsfield; two uncles, Dr. David Lee (Carole) Ellis and Carrol (Barb) Mitchell of Pittsfield; and two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Ellis, in 1993, and his grandparents. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Church of the Nazarene, Pittsfield with burial at the Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Born May 19, 1923, near Chambersburg, Illinois, Pauline was a daughter of Russell and Mary Metz Lidgard. She married Fred G. Butler on September 17, 1941, in New London, Missouri. They were happily married for nearly 52 years when he preceded her in death on June 4, 1993. Surviving are her daughter Judy Bauer of Pittsfield and her son Fred Butler, Jr., and wife Linda of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, as well three granddaughters Julie Bauer Cook and husband Rich of Pittsfield, Allison Carothers and husband Mark of Louisville, Kentucky, and Kelly Berry and husband Nick of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and two great-grandsons, Joel Thurman Cook and Grayson Arthur Cook of Pittsfield. Her brother Bill Lidgard and wife Mardell of Chambersburg also survive, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law A.D. Bauer; and her brothers and sisters Ellsworth Lidgard, Wayne Lidgard, Emmett Lidgard, Anita Ham, Maxine Wade Edwards, Martha Tedrow, and twins Edna and Earl Lidgard, who died in infancy. Mrs. Butler attended Chambersburg School. Pauline was a member of the Griggsville United Methodist Church and the church's Dorcas Circle. She was also a member of the Chambersburg Christian Church's Senior Saints, Pike County Home Extension (HCE), and Needlecraft. In her earlier years, she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and was involved with Cub Scouts. She was a long-time employee of the Griggsville School District, where she served as head cook and was remembered by former students for her pies, rolls, and delicious home cooked meals. She also worked as a housekeeper, and for many summers, sold tickets at the Western Illinois Fair in Griggsville. She was nearly a 20-year survivor of breast cancer. Pauline will be remembered as a loving person with a soft heart and warm smile. She was happiest when she was in the company of family and friends. She loved family reunions and carry-in dinners, and, not wanting to miss a moment, was often among the first to arrive and the last to leave. Pauline was a hard worker and always ready to lend a hand to someone in need. She enjoyed the chance to travel, particularly trips to Kentucky, California, Utah, Nebraska, Missouri, winters in Arizona with her husband Fred, and an extended RV trip through the South with her nephew Richard. She enjoyed attending festivals and parades throughout Pike County. She dearly loved her children and was blessed to see her three granddaughters grow into adulthood. Her two great-grandsons brought tremendous joy to "Great." Pallbearers will be her grandsons-in-law Rich Cook, Mark Carothers, and Nick Berry, along with her nephews Jerry Daggett, Russell Clapp, and Richard Lidgard. Pauline's great-grandsons, Joel and Grayson Cook, will be honorary pallbearers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel in Griggsville, Illinois. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
