"Dick" Article Text: LIBERTY, Ill. -- Richard E. Grimmer, 78, of Timberpoint Health Care Center in Camp Point, formerly of 103 E. Quincy St. in Liberty, died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday (May 10, 2008) in the nursing home. He was born on March 4, 1930, in Quincy, a son of Milton and Marie Terstriep Grimmer. Richard was of the Catholic faith. At one time he was the owner of the Liberty Bee. He then worked for the Adams County Highway Department. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation. Dick was a trustee on the Columbus-Liberty Multi-Township Board for 16 years. He also served as Liberty Township clerk for 16 years. He served on the Adams County Housing Authority Board for many years. Richard loved to hunt and bowl. He was a member of McKee Creek Coon Hunting Club. Survivors include two sisters, Kathleen Mowen of Clayton and Marjorie Bucy of Clarksville, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Linda Bryant and Dan Bucy, both of Clarksville, Tenn., Gene Mowen of Camp Point, Jim Mowen of Mendon, Kenn! y Mowen of Camp Point, Jerry Mowen of Missouri, Jo Anne Welty of Clayton, Frances Peters of Camp Point and Denny Mowen and Nancy Aikman, both of Clayton; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; nieces, Mary Lou Huber and Patty Broer; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Mowen and Leon Bucy. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy with Deacon Mike Ellerman conducting. Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Liberty. Article Text: Waneda E. Myers, 72, of Pittsfield, died Monday afternoon at Liberty Village in Pittsfield. She was born July 1, 1935 near Nebo, the daughter of Charles Edward Harvey and Opal Elma Smith Crossman. She married Marion E. Myers, Sr. Dec. 28, 1953 in Pittsfield and he died May 13, 1994. Waneda was employed as a caregiver for the elderly and she enjoyed crocheting, gardening and computer games. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Pittsfield and the Nebo Baptist Church. Her survivors include five children, Marion "Oscar" Myers, Jr. of Mendon, Barb (husband Roger) Buchanan of Pinckney, Mich., Sarah Myers (fiance Gary Fly) of Hannibal, Mo., Bill (wife Pam) Myers of Katy, Texas and Becky (husband Kenny) White of rural Milton; ten grandchildren, Josh Hagen, Chalah Henderson, Jeb Myers, Chelsie Myers, Rusty (wife Gourtney) Buchanan, Joni Buchanan, (husband Wesley) Haskins, Stephanie Myers, Brittany Myers and Gabby (Husband Jamie) Patterson; six great grandchildren; a special friend and companion, Terry Young of Pittsfield; and three sisters, Alberta (husband Marvin) Price of Center, Mo., Leona (husband Henry) Ralph of Rockport and Wanda (husband Jerry) Grammer of Nebo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marion E. Myers, Sr., two brothers, Kyle and Neal Crossman; her twin sister in infancy, Vaneda E. Crossman, twin grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Buchanan and a grandson, Gregory White. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill conducted by Bro. Jerry Edison. Burial will follow in Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. She was born Jan. 14, 1924 in New Canton to Louis and Viola Allensworth Main. She married John Hart March 27, 1943 in Palmyra, Mo. and he survives. Mrs. Hart graduated from New Canton High School in 1942, where she was active in Softball and other sports. Ilah Mae served as Deputy Treasure for Pike County for several years. She was on a Louisiana, Mo. bowling league for several years and was an avid reader. Mrs. Hart was very family oriented and very much enjoyed her grand-children and great grandkids. She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Donnetta Scott and companion Sam Hively of Mendon, and Jennifer R. Hart of New Canton; two grandchildren, Sabra Burkle and fiancé Vernon (JR) Streeter, of La Prairie and Zachary Scott of New Canton; two great-grandchildren, Chance and Bryce Burkle of Colchester; and a brother-in-law, Norman Bibb of New Canton. She was preceded by her parents, a brother, Johnny Main, and three sisters; Louise Vaughn, Elva Bellovich and Martha Bibb. Graveside services were held Monday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Shearer Cemetery in New Canton with Rev. Patsy Kelly officiating. She was preceded by her father, Larry Rumler; grandparents, Willis Parry and Howard and Elva Rumler. LeAnn was a 1992 graduate of VIT High School. She held various jobs thru the years, but her most important was being a devoted mother. She spent her time caring for the special needs of her two boys with autism. LeAnn loved her family, her friends and her keepsakes. Her home was always filled from wall to wall with pictures of those closest to her heart and pictures of her favorite trips to Disney World. She also proudly displayed her support of Autism Awareness and Esophageal Cancer Awareness. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Stan Shaw officiating. Visitation was held 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 9 at the Funeral Home. He died Tues. May 6, 2008, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. He was the fourth child and second son born to Josiah David Kline and Ida Lorene Hendricks Kline. When Mr. Kline was about two months old the family returned to the family farm north of Barry where he spent the rest of him life with the exception of his time in the Air Force. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1946 then entered the Air Force in 1948 he served four years and was stationed at Shephard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. Texas where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. On Christmas Eve, 1949, he married Lorene Martha Doepel at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nealyville. Lorene survives in rural Barry. He was baptized and confirmed at this church in 1960. Mr. Kline and his wife farmed together all their lives. He was a conservationalist, serving on the Adams County Soil and Water Conservation Board, he was a pioneer in no-till farming, designing and building one of the first no-till planters in this area. He surveyed, built and maintained his farm waterways and terraces. Mr. Kline was a top seed corn salesman for SuperCroft Seeds, D.E.F. Seeds and Crow Hybrids for 30 years. He was also published in the SuperCroft news letters for his work. He was a life long member of the Barry American Legion Post #222 and a past member of the Liberty Lions Club. He was a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau and served as Richfield Township Board Trustee for 12 years. Also an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pittsfield where he served as usher and church elder. Mr. Kline and his wife were able to travel and tour Hawaii, Europe, Brazil, Mexico and Australia. They were also avid motorcyclists and traveled the entire continental United States, including Alaska and Canada on a Honda Gold Wing and are past members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association chapter N. of Quincy. He is survived by his wife of 58 years and four children, Mrs. Motley (Pamela) Hedges of Richland Wash., Mrs. Tony (Jackie) Mosley of Lansing, Mrs. Jody (Jodie) Mauck of Plainville, David Kline and his wife Vikki of Quincy; 12 grandchildren, Amanda Kissere and husband Tracy, Paul Hedges, Allison Hedges, Thomas Mosley and wife Cathy, Jonathan Mosley, Tiffani Hanlin and husband Tracy, Amber Perriner and husband Matt, Tyson Mauck, Jarred Mauck and wife Kim, Casey Kline and wife Erin, Tanner Kline and Carter Kline; nine great grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Joe (Pat) Robinson of Barry and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, J.D. Kline; and a sister, Marjorie Watts. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m Saturday, May 17 in the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pittsfield with Military services by Barry American legion Post 222. She was born Oct. 10, 1935, in Pleasant Hill, a daughter of Russell and Edrie L. Garner Hoaglin. She married David L. Windmiller on Sept. 2, 1956, in Pleasant Hill. He survives. Connie was a 1953 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and a graduate of Gem City Business College in Quincy. She had been employed by the former Citizens State Bank in Pleasant Hill and later by the Nebo State Bank as a teller and bookkeeper. More recently she served as the comptroller for the village of Pleasant Hill. Connie was currently acting as treasurer and board member for the Fairfield Library and Harman House Museum, both in Pleasant Hill, and was a charter member of the Pleasant Hill Lioness Club. She enjoyed working with ceramics and cross-stitching and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Church of Christ. He was a 2nd Class Signalman and veteran of the Iwo Jima and Okinawa campaigns. Norm had many jobs throughout his life. Many of his years were spent as an electrician. He loved target hunting with friends and loading his own ammunition. Although he had a gruff side, Norm also showed a very gentle side nurturing his cats. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the Griggsville Cemetery where graveside military rites will be conducted by Griggsville American Legion Post. There was no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Pike County Animal Shelter or to the Griggsville Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
