Bon September 2, 1927 in Macomb, Illinois, Mary was the daughter of George and Nellie Amerine Welch. She married Rev. Thomas Waters on July 28, 1946 in Macomb. He survives. Mary was a graduate of Macomb High School and was employed for 13 years by Two Rivers Council of Public Officials, retiring as the energy coordinator. Survivors include her husband, Pastor Tom Waters; two daughters, Catherine Reynolds and her husband Ray of Woodstock, IL. and Frances Rhodes and her husband Michael of Paris, France; three sons, Thomas Waters and his wife Suzi and Rev. James Waters and his wife Lynn both of Quincy and Jeffrey Waters and his wife Sandra of Payson; thirteen grandchildren, Brian Reynolds and his wife Dawn of Genoa, IL., Jenni Reynolds and her fiance' Rob Deacon of Woodstock, IL., Tony Rodes and his wife Katie of Quincy, Nicholas Rhodes, Christopher Rhodes and Erin Rhodes all of Keller, TX., Ryan Waters of Tampa, FL., Ashley Waters, Logan Waters, Alexander Waters, Brittany Waters, Zachary Waters and Brandon Meyer all of Quincy; seven great grandchildren, Ceri Deacon of Woodstock, IL., Abbey Rhodes of Quincy and Briannah Reynolds, Christinah Reynolds, Joshua Reynolds, Phillip Mohr and Kenleigh Mohr all of Genoa, IL.; two brothers, Robert Welch and his wife Alice of Bellingham, WA. and Richard Wel! ch and his wife Anne of Hanford, CA.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband. Mrs. Waters attended Dexter school as a child and was a 1936 graduate of Perry High School in Perry, Il. She then attended Western Illinois Teacher’s College in Macomb, Il. and later taught in Hopewell and Perry Schools for 39 years retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Perry Presbyterian Church where she was church pianist and a member of the Presbyterian Guild. She was also a member of Dexter Community Club, Pike Co. Home Extension, and Illinois Retired Teacher’s Association. Wilma loved to teach and each child ! she taught was special to her. In 1999, Wilma received the Honored Cit izen Award at Perry Pioneer Days. Wilma loved the activities at the Liberty Village and recently, Wilma was the Valentine Queen at the Liberty Village. Wilma also loved to square dance. Above all, Wilma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (May 11, 2007) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Il. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. He was employed by the former Citizens Bank in Pleasant Hill as assistant cashier for many years and also owned and operated E.L. Galloway Insurance Agency in Pleasant Hill. Everette had also served as a board member for the Pleasant Hill School Unit District No. 3, the Pleasant Hill Park Board and Crescent Heights Cemetery Association. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and outdoor activities. Survivors include his wife, Joanna Galloway of Pleasant Hill; five children, Linda E. Galloway of Kenai, Alaska, Susan L. (DeWayne) Yeater of Quincy, David W. (Carol) Galloway of Centennial, Colo., Michael J. Galloway of Springfield and Diana L. (Michael) Hankins of Port Byron; four grandchildren, Nathan and Scott Galloway, Kara (Joe) Smith and Christine (Nicholas) Keller; and three great-grandchildren, Madeleine Albright, Caleb Bunte and Emma Keller. Article Text: Raymond W. Bonnett, 88, of Decatur, formerly of Pittsfield and Pekin, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, Sunday, May 18, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Newburg Township, Pike County, to William J. and Pearl Goldman Bonnett. He married Vivian D. Jennings July 10, 1942 in Pike County and she preceded him Oct. 5, 1999. Raymond and Vivian raised, and are survived by nine children. Raymond was a veteran, serving in the Army in World War II and was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a truck driver, first with his own business, Ballinger and Bonnett Trucking in Pittsfield, and later as a driver for Spector Freight System. He was a member of the Teamster Union and was active in the teamster retirement group after his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed woodworking and yard work, NASCAR fan, U.of IL. basketball fan and family cookouts. Survivors include six sons, David A. (Johnnie) Bonnett of Allen, Texas, Bill (Lin) Bonnett of Lake Mary, Fla., R. Keith (Jana) Bonnett of Pekin, John W. (Debi) Bonnett of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Dan (Jeanie) Bonnett of Decatur and Tom Bonnett of Forsyth; three daughters, Evelyn J. (Roger) Beard, of Mooresville, Ind., Joan A. Bonnett of East Peoria and Sarah L. (Herman) Gold of Naperville; a brother, Kenneth (Marylynn) Bonnett of Pittsfield; 27 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; one brother, Julius Bonnett; four sisters, Mary Day, Elizabeth Martin, Louise Ballinger and Marjorie Bonnett; and one grandson, Christopher Bonnett. Funeral services will be held at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield today, Wednesday, May 21, at 2 p.m. with visitation prior to the services, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. with interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pittsfield. Born December 8, 1916 in Quincy, Don was the son of A. Steve and Jessie Bosse Niemann. On June 1, 1940 he married Dorothy Jean Brinkoetter in the St. James Evangelical Church in St. Louis, MO. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1990 at Fort Warden, Washington. She died April 30, 2000. He then married Judy Melton Koenig on June 30, 2001 in Quincy. She survives. Don was a lifelong member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. He graduated from Quincy High School and attended Gem City Business College. He was active with the Boy Scouts serving as Scout Master of the Madison School Troop for three years. He was a member and Past President of the Noon Kiwanis Club, Past Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, 42 year member of the Spring Lake Country Club, 60 year member of the Quincy American Legion Post #37, UCT, Quincy Museum, the National Rifle Association, Farm Bureau and the Elks Lodge #100. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign from 1943 to 1946. Don first managed Niemann Brothers Store at 17th and Broadway. After his return from the service, he was employed by his father and uncle at Niemann Brothers Wholesale at 123-125 N. 3rd for 35 years. During those years he was also vice president of Quincy Foods Inc. and a partner in the West Quincy Sales Company and the Mississippi Grill. He retired in 1970. Also surviving are two sons, Dave Niemann and his wife Mary Lou of Quincy, and D. Tom Niemann and his wife Honey of Snohomish, WA; four grandchildren, Kelly Ann Hopson and her husband Robert of Juneau, AK, Scott Niemann and his wife Katie of Mt. Vernon, WA and Brett Niemann and Kevin Niemann both of Snohomish, WA three great grandchildren, Aidan Hopson of Juneau, AK and Charlotte and Abigail Niemann of Mt. She was born on Oct. 5, 1928, in rural Carthage, Harmony Township, a daughter of Bertha Helen James and James Armstrong Walker. On July 20, 1951, she married Max C. Holtsclaw in the First United Methodist Church in Carthage. He survives in Carthage. Mildred went to country schools and graduated from Carthage High School and Gem City Business College. For many years, she was the school secretary at Carthage High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage, United Methodist Women, Florence Palmer Circle, the Carthage Golf Club and 63rd Infantry Division Association. She served as a scout leader for Girl Scouts of America, and she was one of the founding members of her bridge club, of which she was a member for over 50 years. She loved anything outdoors, including playing with her grandchildren and great! grandchildren. She enjoyed golfing, gardening and bird watching, and watched with pride as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren played sports. She is survived by her husband, Max C. Holtsclaw of Carthage; three daughters, Sharon Kay Banner and her husband, Dan, of Sunrise Beach, Mo., Patricia Ann Moskoff and her husband, George, of Sebastopol, Calif., and Connie Jo Smith and her husband, Rick, of Carthage; two sisters, Nellie Reed of Chillicothe and Margaret A. Mrs. Bauner was born in Quincy, Oct. 30, 1908, a daughter of Luella Payne and John Hezekiah Hall. Upon graduation from Quincy High School, Mrs. Bauner attended Western Illinois State Teachers College for one year. Then she began her long teaching career in Pike County, where she taught for three years. In fall 1930, Mrs. Bauner joined the Irving School faculty as the third-grade teacher. In 1940, she was transferred to the Irving kindergarten, where she remained until 1966, when she became Quincy’s first visiting teacher, serving Irving, Washington, Dewey, Jefferson, Jackson and Highland- Riverside schools until she retired in 1974. Mrs. Bauner’s professional training included bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Illinois University and two years of additional gradua! te work at the University of Colorado and the University of Illinois. Mrs. Bauner was an active member of all professional educational organizations, serving in many different capacities. She was a member of the Quincy Education Association, the Illinois and National Education Associations, the Quincy Women’s Teachers, the Council of Exceptional Children, the Adams County Retired Teachers and the Irving School PTA. Her services to the Irving PTA, in which she served as officer and committee chairman, were recognized with the presentation of a lifetime membership in the Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers. In 1944, Mrs. Bauner and her sister, Frances Hall, were charter members of the Quincy Federation of Teachers. Mrs. Bauner was the first married teacher who was able to continue working. Mrs. Bauner was identified with many programs in the Quincy Public Schools system. She served on the advisory committee organized by Superintendent William G. Alberts and Dr. L.O. L! ittle. She was a member of several curriculum development committees, serving as representative for the kindergarten area. She joined the First Union Congregational Church in 1945, where she served as head of the Beginners’ Department of the Sunday school, church historian, a member of the 15-40 Club, and as first presiding chairman of an evening section of the Women’s Guild. Mrs. Bauner had held an Illinois real estate license since 1954 and with her late husband operated the Imperial Real Estate Service. Mrs. Bauner’s artistic talents were used many times in the construction of scenery and costumes for many school, church and community organizations. Mrs. Bauner created the figures used in the Nativity scenes in Washington Park years ago at Christmastime. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, a lifetime member of Good Samaritan Home, Women’s City Club, Quincy Preserves, a member of Spring Lake Country Club for 50 years, and a past member of the Quincy Country Club. Mrs. Bauner married John C. Bauner on Aug. 27, 1944, in! Pittsfield. He died June 27, 1983. Also preceding her in death were a stepson, John C. Bauner Jr., who died in 1957; a sister, Miss Frances Hall, a retired teacher of Quincy, who died Nov. 13, 1997; and a brother Walter J. Hall, owner of an advertising agency service, who died Feb. 25, 1983. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Eldon (Catherine) Elam of Lompoc, Calif., and Dr. Ruth Bauner of Carbondale; and four stepgrandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and outdoor activities. Survivors include his wife, Joanna Galloway of Pleasant Hill; five children, Linda E. Galloway of Kenai, Alaska, Susan L. (DeWayne) Yeater of Quincy, David W. (Carol) G! alloway of Centennial, Colo., Michael J. Galloway of Springfield and Diana L. (Michael) Hankins of Port Byron; four grandchildren, Nathan and Scott Galloway, Kara (Joe) Smith and Christine (Nicholas) Keller; and three great-grandchildren, Madeleine Albright, Caleb Bunte and Emma Keller. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arsa G. Galloway; and a sister, Thelma Barton. Article Text: GOLDEN, Ill. " Albert E. Albers, 89, of Golden died at 4:55 p.m. Monday (May 12, 2008) in the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden. He was born on Sept. 26, 1918, in Golden, a son of Eilert and Wilhelmine Goldenstein Albers. He married Irma Ideus on Sept. 20, 1942, in Golden. She died Nov. 2, 1997. Mr. Albers was a farmer for his family farm for most of his life, later becoming a painter, painting several barns and farming structures and retiring in 1999. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden, Immanuel Lutheran Brotherhood, the church choir and the Adams County Farm Bureau, and he was a member of the Golden Lions Club for over 30 years. He was most proud of once being named Golden’s Citizen of the Year. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, and he liked to be out visiting family and friends. He is survived by three sons, Larry Albers of Denver, Colo., Roger (Bonita) Albers of Golden and Gregory (Rhonda) Albers of Golden; two daughters, Gloria (Alan) Reusc! hel of Camp Point and Kristy (Richard) Goudschaal of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Shari (Jeff) Horras, Scott (Angie) Reuschel, Dustin (Katy) Gouldschaal and Megan and Chelsie Goudschaal and Larry D. Albers Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Sierra and Shyenne Horras, Alexis, Cody and Luke Reuschel and Jacob Albers; five stepgrandchildren, Connie (Virgil) Frese of Quincy, Diana (Kevin) McCarthy of Virginia, Butch (Mary) Sebers of Marengo, Larry Kauffman of Carthage and Jerry Kauffman of Golden. Also surviving are four brothers, Francis (Virginia) Albers of Golden, the Rev. Paul (Erna) Albers of Australia, Ernest (Arlene) Albers of Grandview, Iowa, and Raymond (Jeanette) Albers of Golden; two sisters, Mildred (Joel) Croxton of La Prairie and Rosalie (Tony) DeNiro of Munroe Falls, Ohio; three sistersin- law, Lois (Robert) Croxton, Margaret and Maxine Ideus; and several nieces and nephews. Article Text: Wilma C. Dunham, 88, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 500 N. 29th, Quincy, died at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday (May 13, 2008) in Blessing Hospital. Born Feb. 12, 1920, near Ursa, Mrs. Dunham was a daughter of Emil and Selma Cramm. She married Estille F. Dunham, a highly decorated Marine and POW veteran of World War II, in 1947 in Salem Church. She was a 1938 graduate of Quincy High School. Mrs. Dunham was a personal care assistant at Blessing Hospital for 16 years and also was employed as a certified nurse’s assistant (CNA) by the Illinois Veterans Home for 14 years. She retired from the state of Illinois in 1984. Mrs. Dunham was a 70-plusyear member of Salem United Church of Christ, singing in the Choristers for many years. She was a past worthy matron of the Alpha Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. Her lifelong enjoyment of music began at an early age while playing the piano and mandolin. A regular pleasure was attending performances of many of Quincy’s musical groups,! including the Quincy Park Band, Quincy Symphony, Community Band, the Sunday Music Series and many others. Her favorites were the concerts in which her two sons performed. Mrs. Dunham was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister; and son, Bob. She is survived by her son, Dean, of Quincy. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery at Ursa. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
