She was born October 4, 1899, in Teutopolis, the daughter of F.G. and Anna Riemann Hattrup. She married Herman S. Utz in 1922. He preceded her in death in 1955. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and one sister. She was a member of the Church of the Visitation in Illiopolis. Surviving are one son, Kenneth R. of Ohiopyle, Pa.; one daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Marilyn) Carmean of Decatur; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Emma Kralman of Effingham. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur, with the Rev. Zvonimir Damjanor officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Time and again I've talked to people at the Illiopolis Sentinel on the phone and offered to pay them whatever they wanted for the obituaries, knowing that I have to be patient, but I think 2 years is being patient enough.
