Hi List, Thought I could put in a word as to what happened to my family. My Mother passed away in 1985. I had started my family history by mid 1990's and started not knowing hardly anything about my Mother's family so it took a few years down the line to really get going. On the internet I had found a spot, which we all lovingly know as the "S.S.D.I." Social Security Death Index. To my awful surprise my Mother was not listed and I was totally baffled! I knew that she had a social security number and had used it throughout the years before her death but why wasn't she listed? I just could not understand this. Finally I decided to take a leap of faith and call the local area Social Security office. Upon the investigation of why she was not listed they offered this reason: a glich in the system back in 1985 had prevented her name to be listed in their master computer. Shortly after making this phone call her name and info. now shows up on the list. So, I guess my tip would be if your ancestor/family member does not show up on the S.S.D.I list sometimes it helps to get ahold of your local office and inquire why. Hope this helps Connie Westcott __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
