Social Security Death Index lists the last residence they sent benefits to, not necessarily where the person died. Also not always the birth state but lists where the person first signed up for SS card . Social Security leads a lot of people wrong if you don't understand this. ---- "Kate B." <katekb@consolidated.net> wrote: > As you probably have several answer you but the problem that I have is that > my mother is listed as dying in a different county from the one that she > really died in. > > I have even sent emails trying to get this corrected but so far it still has > her listed in a different county. Hi, Another wrinkle in this complicated SS issue - both my parents died in MN.\ and were buried from the same funeral home in Chicago, IL. They had lived there for a little over a year when my mom died (I am sure her SS checks were being sent there)my mom's SSDI states her last residence in (Cook) IL and the wrong date by 10 days. My dad died 3 years later and they have his information correct - go figure. I just had to put my 2 cents worth in. <grin> Joyce -----Original Message----- From: heartsweetnana@adelphia.net [mailto:heartsweetnana@adelphia.net] Sent: Tuesday, May 31, 2005 3:03 AM To: IL-OBITS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IL-OBITS] RE: So Sec death index Social Security Death Index lists the last residence they sent benefits to, not necessarily where the person died.
