Social Security will only show if someone has collected a death benifit....otherwise it will not show for any other reason.....
That is not true. All four of our parents are dead. We never requested benefits from Social Security in any form. All of our parents show on the SS Index with the correct dates and locations. It may be the funeral home that notifies the SS Department. We suspect that the problem has to do with the filing of death process, rather than with anything else. If we do not turn in the death certificate for the person, they are not listed in the SS Index. I had to turn my Dad's in, and he is listed. My neice did not turn my sister's in, and she is not listed. We are responsible for it. It doesn't mean that any death benefits were collected...it just means that we turned the death certificate in to SS.
