    1. [IL-MCGS] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [IL-MCGS] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

    3. Do you know any of his siblings? You could try searching for them and comparing family names. Find their obits. When doing research you cannot jump around. You have to methodically go backwards step by step. I would check information on the brothers and sisters. You have provided very little information for anyone to try to help you. Thank you and have a good day! 2. Sue Masten via
    3. Not knowing more about your Sarah Wallace and after reading some of your other posts I am not exactly sure who you are looking for. That said I found: Masonic New - Cemetery Metropolis Sarah E Wallace --1838-1930 plot 384 -- Enter from North street, take the L road at the Y shortly after you enter the cemetery continue to cross road, turn R, and just before the circle -- on the left is plot 384, and 385 is on the corner of the circle which turns L . There are 3 Wallace's buried there.. one being Thomas --who I see owns another lot in the IOOF, but isn't buried there - he is buried here in the lot mentioned above. No one is buried in his lot at IOOF. Those buried Nancy J wife of Thomas, Thomas, and Sarah E. Dunn -- plot 485 they are Emma and Ward -- No Nutty's New Hope - Columbia Nutty --There are 5 buried in New Hope Cemetery - Columbia.. no Sarah - but maybe some relation. They are: Raymond, Donald, Albert, Ella and Russel Wallace - There is one Wallace (but not Sarah)in same cemetery Dunn - 3 Myrtle, Elmer and Mrs. Francis Masonic - New Columbia Nutty - John J , John S and Georgia Ann Old Station or Farris Cemetery located across from Masonic Cemetery in New Columbia, has a fence around it. Nutty - Nancy Thank you and have a good day! 3. This sound odd -- but I have found, particularly with my line.. .the women were not buried with their spouses. All of mine have been buried with their own family's of childhood. My grandmother is buried with her mother and all her sisters and brothers. Now her brother, who was also married - is also buried with grandmother . My grandfather who was orphan young, is buried by himself and my great uncles wife is buried with her family. I found this odd - but if you know where her other family is buried - -try that. Thank you and have a good day! I didn't realize that the Masonic Cemetery was made up of multiple smaller cemeteries. I'll check out the other cemeteries. I have many grandparents from the Metropolis area (including the Ragland and Brady family lines). My goal is still to locate the parents of Sarah Dunn (Nutty-Wallace). I am suspicious that it might be a Henry Dunn from Johnson County; but, I can't locate anything concrete. I have one question for you, what do you mean by "Op" in your last sentence? She was born in Johnson County in 1834; but spent most of her live in Massac County. She married a Gail Nutty on 15 Jan 1857 and had four children. She then married a John Wallace on 29 Apr 1869 and had four additional children. She died on 11 Jan 1930 in Metropolis, being the oldest living white woman in town. She is buried in Masonic Cemt. Her two husbands may also be buried there. Gail died in 1863. I am related to Sarah and Gail. My questions are: 1) Is Gail also buried in Masonic Cemt. and what was the burial date? 2) Are there in County records that might help determine Sarah's parents or a death certificate that might list them?
