Allen, 65, of Elgin, former many year resident of Schaumburg, died Monday, November 3, 2003 at his home. He was born in Chicago on August 3, 1938. Bob was a resident of Elgin for the past 18 years. He was owner of Cherokee Graphics in St. Charles. Bob was a member of Lions International and was past president of the Hoffman Estates Lions Club. He was a co-founder of the Schaumburg Athletic Association. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Bob was a member and past president of Elgin Country Club, and also was a member of Waterlefe Golf and River Club in Bradenton, Florida. He was a member and past director of the American Indian Economic Development Association. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gloria M. (nee Johnson) Allen, whom he married on July 9, 1960; their children, Deborah (Greg) Schulz of Briggsville, WI and Douglas Allen of Elgin; a granddaughter, Rakelle Renee Schultz; his father and step-mother, John C. (Ruby) Allen of Tuscon, AZ; his brother, John C. "Jack" (Sharon) Allen of Louisville, KY; and his sister, Diane Hyde of Baytown, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annabelle Fowle Meredith. Memorial funeral services will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Trail in Elgin (located off Highland Ave., approx. west of Randall Road). The Rev. Steve Srock will officiate. Private burial will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will also be held in Florida at a later date. Please omit flowers; memorials may be made to the Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, Elgin.
