Frederick H. Gaede lifelong resident of West Chicago Funeral services for Frederick H. Gaede, 99, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Norris-Walen Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. The Rev. David Faulhner will officiate. Born August 4, 1904, on a farm at Fair Oak Road and St. Charles Road, he passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Wynscape Nursing Center, Wheaton. Burial will be in Glen Oak Cemetery, West Chicago. Mr. Gaede was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Winfield, as well as a member of their evangelism board. He was also on the board of Trinity Lutheran Church. He started working with Marx Brothers as an ice man and milk delivery man. He then began work as a milkman at Rathbun Dairy in Glen Ellyn. He was co-owner of Markl Dairy in West Chicago from 1946 to 1969. After retiring from the dairy business, he began work at Crossroads Chevrolet-Buick in West Chicago as their man Friday until 1994, when he retired for a second time. He loved fishing in northern Wisconsin, and celebrated his 74th wedding anniversary with his wife last month. Frederick is survived by his loving wife, Stella (nee Glasshagel), whom he married on Oct. 2, 1929; his son, Eugene (Charleen) Gaede of West Chicago; his grandchildren, Paula (James) Mann of Wheaton, Patricia (Paul) Dixon of Columbia, S.C. and Fred (Valerie) Gaede of West Chicago; eight great-grandchildren; and by two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Augusta Gaede. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
