Cecilia Harz Funeral services for Cecilia Harz, 86, a resident of East Dundee for more than 40 years, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 144 E. Palatine Road, Palatine. The Rev. Michelle McNamara will officiate. Born July 14, 1917, in Elk Grove Township, she died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. Interment will be private. Cecilia graduated from Palatine High School in 1934 and moved to East Dundee in the early 1960s. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, where she was baptized and later confirmed in 1931. She was a devout member of the church Women's Guild, where she used her skills as a seamstress to benefit others in many ways, including making hundreds of quilts, cancer pads, lab robes, and was able to sew almost anything that anyone had a need for. Some of her hobbies included playing the organ and piano, and also having an incredible love for animals, especially her cat, Kitty. Cecilia will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her lifelong spirit of serving others. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memorial Gift Fund of St. Paul United Church of Christ, 144 E. Palatine Road, Palatine, IL 60067.
