I fairly certain they came from the same area of Germany...Apelern and the smaller villages surrounding. Conrad and Charlotta Kolling were on the land from 1845 -1867ish Starting with 40 acres and obtaining more than 160. On the 1870 map it is showed owned by Bohne, we have not found the sale records yet. The Kollings moved to "town" in Arlington Heights and bought the town Grist mill from James Shirra. I have a sale document for land just south of the 160, perhaps I will find something yet! :o) The cute thing in my research is that my Bohne connection years ago knew my Great Uncle Irving Kolling, played cards with he and his wife Agnes(Grupe another family from Apelern! ;O) ) and never knew their families had shared land in Schaumburg. We have been trying to find where the Bohne family was prior to 1867 in the area. I had seen H Bohne on land in the township just west on near the border of the southwestern portion of Schaumburg township on an earlier than 1870 map. Just not the time right now to investigate this! Wonder if Karen has anything on the family back in Germany....Karensgen.com Laurie
Thanks Laurie for your response. Mine were from Germany. Is Apelern in Hannover or later, known as Prussia? My gr. grandfather later changed the spelling to Baney-after Civil War. He sold land at one time to the Catholic church. thanks again for your help.
