Karen Rowe has that the Apelern church was established in 1603...thats where I got that information. This is the church she has many years of records transcribed for. There is more information and many photos of the church at her site as well as some great maps for those who need a better look.....And lucky Dave for having the fortune to stand in the church of our ancestors! :o) Laurie
As I recall, the gravestones inside and outside of the church date as far back as the 13th century, so I suspect that the 1603 date may refer to the earliest available church records.
