Edwin Plote, 82, of Wildwood, FL, formerly of Elgin, IL, passed away Monday, January 19, 2004 in Wildwood. He was born in Plato Center, IL. He was a retired factory supervisor and past Elgin Police Officer before moving to Wildwood. He was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a POW in World War II where he received four Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty; son, John of Daytona Beach; grandchildren, Jessica Frichtel of San Diego, CA, Jennifer Carpenter of Bartlett, IL and Jason Lawrence of Korea; a brother, Walter Plote of Delavan, WI; and two sisters, Dorthea Stevens of Sun City, AZ and Bernice Plote of Elgin, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Wildwood United Methodist Church. In the near future, services will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
