Claude V. Bailey of Palatine for 57 years Funeral services for Claude V. Bailey, 86, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Rev. David C. Nelson will officiate. Born July 5, 1917, in Middletown, Ill., he died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004. Interment will be in Randhill Park Cemetery, Arlington Heights. Mr. Bailey began working for School District 211 in 1947. He was the first driver's education teacher and baseball coach for Palatine High School. He was also the first president of the teacher's association for Palatine High School. In 1962, Claude became director of transportation for School District 211. He retired in 1982, but continued to work for the district as a substitute teacher, bus driver and bus aid. Claude was the beloved husband of Dolores (nee Kauffman) for more than 61 years; devoted father of Claudia Bailey of Palatine and Debbie (Rick) Poillucci of Woodstock; cherished grandpa of Gwen Barker, Erin! Bailey, and Heather and Erica Poillucci; and dear brother of Michael (Lois) Siebold of Champaign. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Bailey-Barker; son-in-law, Edward Barker; stepfather, Michael Siebold Sr.; brother, Harry Bailey Jr.; stepbrother, James (Henrietta) Siebold; and his parents, Harry Sr. and Daisey Bailey.
