James R. Shafar of Schaumburg Services for James R. Shafar, 69, will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, at the Countryside Funeral Home, 333 S. Roselle Road (½ mile south of Irving Park Road), Roselle. Born May 19, 1934, in Spring Hill, Iowa, he died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Cremation is private. Mr. Shafar was a supervisor for Delta Airlines and a volunteer fireman in Schaumburg. He was the husband of Juanita Joan Shafar (nee Fogle); father of Peggy (Richard) Followell of Woodstock, Cindy (Joe) Gnaster of Hanover Park, Valerie Shafar of Lake in the Hills and Tim (Jennifer) Shafar of Streamwood; grandfather of Amy (David) Krebs, James Followell, Christina (Gary) Hurst, Samantha Gnaster and Laura Short; great-grandfather of Ethan and Elliot Krebs, Tyler Gnaster and Taylor Hurst; and brother of Max (Betty) Shafar of Chariton, Iowa, and the late Glenn and Ruby.
