from the archives "Karen Rowe" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: St. John's Rodenberg, Il from the Centennial of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Rodenberg (Roselle), Illinois 1851-1951: Rev. Francis A. Hoffman, pastor of St. Peter's in Schaumburg, IL organized a St. John's, Rodenberg congregation by the end of 1847. Ernst Ludwig Hermann Kuehn of Frankenmuth, Michigan was installed as second pastor on 23 MAR 1851. Charter members were: Christoph Steffen, Heinrich Hasemann, Friedrich Hinze, Heinrich Mensching, Christopher Ackmann, Conrad Dralle and Conrad Geistfeld. Pastor Kuehn served until 1857 when Rev. Frederick W. Richmann of Grand Rapids, MI installation took place 01 AUG 1858. In 1859 the congregation became affiliated with the Missouri Synod. Third pastor was J. N. Niethammer installed 01 OCT 1862. New church building erected 01 NOV 1862, dedicated 16 DEC 1863. Rev. L. E. Knief of Millers Landing, MO was installed May 1870, then Rev. George William Brueggemann of Canaan, MO 05 FEB 1871 until 21 FEB 1878 when he was called to the Zion congregation at Union Hill, IL replaced by Pastor Henry Schmidt.
