obits - just some info each weekend but usually Sunday, you will notice that I send the previous week's obits to the list. these are from the daily herald and lately the courier news in elgin I do this while listening to charles and george on tv ... ... this is the criteria that I use as I clip them and send them. (just in case you are wondering, "WHY is valentine sending THIS? ") first I scan for surnames I recognize as local - yep, I bet I missa bunch, but I try..regardless of age then I scan for where they were born AND if over 80 years old. I cant do contemporary folks because of the hospitals that now exist in palatine, hoffman and elk grove.. then I scan for business or govt names that might indicate their involvement in these three general areas. I do include des plaines, elgin and roselle in this because our townships did business in these areas... then if the service/burial is at st peters schaumburg, I include it, regardless of age.. if I get hits on any of these, then I send them to the lists of import.. the schaumburg list gets those from out of the township lines - like elgin, roselle etc.. since these obits that I send are part of the legacy.com system, for thirty days only, you could visit legacy.com and see the memory books that might be signed. if these families are part of yours, then these short-lived books might be of value to your search.. you have only 30 days to check the guest books... YOU all can add to these obits with those obits from YOUR own collections. type them up and send them to the list. the older the better. but do give dates and paper name.. YOUR entry might be just the clue that others are looking for. valentine
